Halton District School Board Trustee - Ward 4 Nominee
I like to be involved in my community and to help people. I moved to Burlington over a year ago and married my wife shortly thereafter. Since then, I have begun putting down roots, especially with local dog-walkers, and thinking about how to become involved with my local community as we all recover from the forced isolation brought on by COVID-19. Ever since my high school days, I have been heavily engaged with extra-curriculars and volunteer activities. Since starting at University, I have worked to learn what it means to govern and fallen in love with the structure and rigors of the board room.
Building community and fostering belonging among our student population is crucial to other areas of their development and will be an area of focus I have on the Board. As a bisexual man, I know how important an equitable and inclusive community and learning environment is not just for scholastic performance but also personal development. The HDSB has already committed to principles of equity, inclusivity, and reconciliation, but it's also important to ensure that we have representation from marginalized groups in the room when discussions are taking place and decisions are being made.
I look forward to the opportunity to connect better with members of the community and earn your trust. I promise that I will be highly engaged and responsive to your needs and concerns, and that I will use my experience and my drive for continuous improvement to serve the Board of Trustees.
